Sermon: Jesus: The God of Life

I have accompanied many people through death and in preparation for funerals and there is always something that remains consistent. Death always feels unnatural. No matter when the death happens or how expected it is, death feels wrong. Yet, in a worldly experience sense, there is nothing more natural.

As Christians, this shouldn't surprise us. We know that death is only the product of the sin that separates us from the God of life. We know that we were meant for life - a life we can only know with God. This brings us back to the amazing and miraculous work of Jesus. This Sunday we explore Jesus' resurrection of Lazarus and how Jesus shows himself to be the Lord of life that wants to save us from death and draw us into the eternal and bountiful life with him.

Jesus: The God of Sight

In last week's miracle, we learned that Jesus is the one that brings order to the chaos. This week, as we Jesus healing a man born blind we learn that Jesus is the one who reveals, he is the light of the world.

There are plenty of things we don't understand and can't perceive. The world is full of all that we don't know, yet God wants to reveal it to us. He wants to open our eyes to the truth that surrounds us. Yet, we must see by his light, just like we need the sun for our days. Let us walk in His revealing light, so that we might see His goodness revealed around us and through us.

Join us Sunday to meet Jesus, our revealing God.

Sermon - We Need a Miracle

There are many times in our lives where we long for a miracle. There are so many needs in the world and in our lives which we can feel powerless to solve. So why not?

Jesus challenges us this Sunday in our second miracle, as he says "You will not believe unless you see a miracle". Yet, Jesus goes on to do the miracle and we see faith come from it. Jesus is trying to point us to a very important reality. Miracles are great and wonderful, we should watch, ask for and hold onto them, but we need a faith that is built upon the love of God, a faith inspired by a relationship with him. This is the kind of faith that will lead us to his Kingdom.
